An army of people works behind the scenes to enable DCC to Connect, Grow, & Glow. This is what they do.
DCC is served by three groups of devoted servants: Elders, Deacons, and Ministry Staff.
The Elders serve DCC by leading her. Throughout the Bible they are referred to as elder, pastor, bishop, and overseer. Regardless of their title, their tasks remain the same:
- Shepherd God’s flock by providing spiritual care, biblical counsel, church discipline, and protection from false teachers
- Teach and preach the Bible
- Select, train, and equip the next generation of servant leaders
The Deacons lead DCC by serving her. Their responsibilities and contributions are too numerous to list, but they truly are the backbone of Defiance Christian Church. As the servant leaders of DCC, the deacons work behind the scenes to impact every area of our church.
Our current deacons are: Larry Brown, Brad Harsha, Joe Heubner, Gary Ries, Chad Sprow, Matt Verhoff, and Todd Watchman.
The Ministry Staff carries out the vision of our elders. As the elders determine what we do, the ministry staff decides, plans, and implements how we do it. Our ministry staff consists of:
- Bill Mesaeh, Senior Pastor
- Jim Dotson, Family Life Pastor
- Brad and Christy Harsha, Directors of DCC Connect
- Matt Geiger, Director of Worship
- Jessica Myers, Youth Director
Worship
Everybody worships.
Worship is the act of giving the best of our time, talent, and resources to something or someone. The Bible tells us that someONE must be God and that someTHING must be his church. At DCC, we worship in two ways:
- By singing songs of praise to Jesus Christ on Sunday morning in either of our two worship services
- By striving for absolute excellence in every way that we present our self to the community
Day-to-day Administration
It takes a lot to keep a growing church running smoothly. A lot!
To keep the leaders leading, the ministries ministering, and the worshipers worshiping, our Office Manager Alicia Mengerink manages DCC’s day-to-day operations. She is the hub of communication for our publications, house and grounds maintenance, finance committee, and every other piece of crucial administration needed to keep our doors open and lights on.
